When I read chapter one I noticed that a lot of the terms relate to business, marketing specifically. Since marketing is trying to sell products and reach specific people, it matches up well with terms such as audience and purpose. Your products must have a purpose or else they won’t be sold and you should have the audience in mind at all times. If you design your product to your liking, not many people may buy it because it doesn’t align with their likings. In other words, creating something with a need is crucial. The reason people write is to convey his/her message across to a specific audience, alike the way products are sold. The second definition of purpose is to persuade someone that your idea is worth acting upon. This relates perfectly to the marketer because he/she will not market a product they cannot see selling in a marketplace. As an author you write with a purpose to get published and get your message across, like how a marketer advertises with the same purpose. The way authors plan and choose their genres is similar to the way products are sold and the methods used to sell them. At the end of the day, both a marketer and a writer have the purpose to get their message across to their intended audiences.
