In my opinion, the steps to the research proposal located toward the end of chapter 5 are all second nature. For me at least, I basically did all these steps before I even read the end of chapter 5 in the Bedford Book of Genres. I didn’t necessarily do them in order, for example, I thought of my idea then immediately thought of the challenges I may face while writing about it. In the BBG it is the very last step in the proposal checklist but I did it first. Granted there are some little details under each category of things to do that would have definitely helped make my proposal better and now I know for next time. I personally didn’t think to specifically write out a question and determine if it was open-ended, or even if it was more factual based compared to an argumentative basis.
