In my opinion I think Anne Lamott overreacts to almost everything to get her point across. Her choice of words is always vivid. When she starts with the part of describing a writer sitting down rolling their neck and pulling up his/her sleeves it starts me thinking. Then she started explaining how somehow writing a few “stiff” sentences relate to huskies running across the snow. She even goes on to exaggerates the point of Mr. Poopy pants. At this point I think we all understand that the shitty first drafts are supposed to be shitty. Despite all of this, I still agree with Anne. When we did the freewriting exercise in class, it helped so much more than I would have ever thought. Not only did I figure out my topic I wanted to write about but I generated 3 good ideas for it too. Bottom line is that Anne definitely has a way with her words that I personally wouldn’t choose but I do agree with her point.
